According to the World Health Organization, depression is about 50% more common in women than it is in men – we take seriously the unique difficulties faced by women as they navigate the arduous process of dealing with depression. With our holistic approach, we incorporate an expertise in evidence-based treatment with a deep understanding of women’s experiences. Through greater well-being and healing, we empower our clients to live the lives they desire.

Our Approach

Holistic Care: In medicine, the term “holistic” refers to the interconnected aspects of human experience and the importance of treating more than just symptoms precipitated by illness.  At our practice, we find great value in treating the whole person, considering physical, emotional, and spiritual health rather than addressing only the symptoms of depression.

Evidence-Based Treatments: In addition to the holistic model, our therapists have training in a number of evidence-based modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Through considerable research and scientific study, it has been demonstrated that these approaches are effective in treating depression.

Tailored to Women’s Needs:  It goes without saying that women can experience unique challenges and stressors that can contribute to or cause depression, such as reproductive issues, hormonal fluctuations, and societal expectations.  Our treatment team is focused on being conscious of these factors and is ready to tailor a treatment plan to meet the specific needs of each and every client.

Compassionate Support: It is our intention to provide an environment that is safe and nurturing so you can explore feelings, thoughts, and experiences without fear of judgment. Throughout the entirety of the healing process, our therapists offer guidance and compassionate support.

Individual Counseling: One-on-one therapy sessions are designed to enable a personalized environment to process depression and build resiliency.

Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques:  The path to resolving depressive symptoms involves many steps, but learning strategies that enable mindfulness and relaxation are critical to this journey as well as many other mental health issues, such as stress and anxiety.

Psychoeducation: Building a better comprehension of depression and its effects can go a long way to empower women to be more active in the recovery process.  Psychoeducation is a way for our treatment team to articulate the nature of mental illness to the client in a way that fosters this dynamic.

Wellness Practices: By focusing on a multi-faceted approach to treatment for depression, the incorporation of holistic wellness practices such as nutrition, exercise, and self-care can enhance overall well-being.
