Anxiety is incredibly common – up to 1/3 of the population is said to suffer from anxiety disorders. Despite how prevalent anxiety is, there’s a lot of stigma that comes with asking for help. While we might try to rely on our friends and family for support, there’s nothing quite like the judgment-free guidance of a trusted therapist.

According to the World Health Organization, depression is about 50% more common in women than it is in men – and at our practice we take very seriously the unique difficulties faced by women as they navigate the arduous process of dealing with depression.  With our holistic approach, we incorporate an expertise in evidence-based treatment into a deep understanding of women’s experiences, leading our clients to empowerment through greater well-being and healing.

At Women’s Counseling NC, we understand the importance of having healthy relationships. Communication, intimacy, trust, and codependency are just a sampling of the issues couples are faced with on a day-to-day basis. We recognize that not every couple is the same, and therefore tailor our therapy services to best help you and your partner navigate the challenges of relationship.

At Women’s Counseling NC, we understand the unique joys and challenges that come from motherhood. It is a beautiful, demanding journey, and we want you to help you navigate it to ensure you and your baby are happy and healthy.

Even with a network of trusted friends and family members in place, it can be difficult to keep your head above water these days. That’s why it’s helpful to have professionals to turn to for guidance. Someone whose support is authentic, feminine, and unbiased. We are women, we only work with women, and are focused on your specific healing needs.

EMDR helps reframe traumatic memories, and eventually desensitize individuals to the negative effects they have. This approach is very helpful in processing deep-rooted trauma and promotes long-lasting recovery and well-being.

It turns out years of research, stemming from Dr. Elaine Aron and others dating back to 1991, has found that there is a personality type to explain this pattern. Aron coined the trait “Highly Sensitive Person” to describe a set of traits. These traits include being highly sensitive to physical environments and emotional or sensory stimuli.

Codependency is a cluster of behaviors that can lead to issues with relationships and mental health. An individual doesn’t necessarily have to identify with all of these behaviors, as any of them can be challenging to manage without therapeutic support.

You can pick your friends. You can pick your romantic partners. You can’t, however, pick your family. It’s no surprise, then, that families are a common source of stress, frustrations and codependency issues. Familial codependency patterns can be incredibly difficult to break out of without the help of a professional therapist. Lifelong habits, expectations and generational trauma can place tremendous pressure on codependent individuals.

Change is inevitable. Sometimes, it’s exciting. Other times, life transitions can cause inordinate amounts of stress. It’s often a struggle to bear the burden of unforeseen circumstances alone. Even when we can anticipate possible changes, the impact of such transitions can be challenging to shoulder.

Across the lifespan, trauma has the capacity to do emotional damage in a wide variety of aspects of your life.  At Women’s Counseling NC, we understand and respect the challenges of navigating the complexities of trauma and will help you discover a path to reclaim your health and happiness.

In addition to talk therapy, our therapists are trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a research-based method that helps the brain heal from trauma. EMDR can reduce the intensity of painful memories, ease anxiety, and support emotional balance, allowing you to move forward with greater peace.

Our therapists are hormone-informed and understand the ways hormonal fluctuations can impact mood, energy, and overall well-being. We also have specialists with advanced training in PMDD, prenatal and postpartum hormonal shifts, and perimenopause and menopause transitions. With compassionate support and evidence-based care, we help you navigate these changes and find greater balance.

I can’t say enough great things about Lauren! She has helped me really understand and work on my anxiety and depression. She is so calming and makes the session feel like a safe and happy place. Lauren makes sure to explain things clearly and honestly has our best interest at heart! I couldn’t have asked for a better therapist!!

Amber

“Women’s Integrative has helped me so much!” Lauren is amazing, her availability for her patients, her compassion, the resources she provides in addition to the sessions. I am a college student coming to the end of my degree- never did well with the idea of therapy- but Lauren made it so easy and comfortable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Emily D.

“Therapy has been so life changing for me.” Lauren has truly been a wonderful person to work with. I’m so grateful I found her when I did. Therapy has been so life changing for me and I would recommend her services to anyone!

Meagan P.

“I always feel better after talking to her.” Lauren has been so great at helping me through a very difficult time in my life. She has given me strategies to help cope with anxiety resulting from my marriage ending and all of the huge changes that go along with that. I always feel better after talking to her and am so grateful that I found her.

Margaret N.

“Wonderful care at this practice.” I have always received wonderful care at this practice from Lauren! I have been helped tremendously with the root causes of my anxiety and my quality of life has vastly improved because of our therapeutic relationship! I highly recommend this practice for anyone looking for help with their mental health.

Savannah C.

I could not have asked for a better therapist. We worked together for about two and a half years, and in that time frame we worked through how to better manage anxious feelings, past trauma, and how to work through grief when my grandma passed away. Lauren helped me through impactful therapy techniques (EMDR) that completely changed how I made sense of my childhood. I looked forward to every session, and felt that therapy improved my relationships as well as my day to day well-being. When I think of Lauren and the positive impact she’s made in my life, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for bringing her into my life. I moved to MA which meant I could no longer work with Lauren, but if I could I would have. She is truly one of a kind with many therapy superpowers. Thank you for your calming energy, thoughtful approach, and sharing practices that have made a lasting positive change in my life.

Maria M.

Janelle has a genuine and uncanny way of helping people identify and peel back layers of self destructive thinking. In my experience, she is one of the most gifted and effective therapist I have ever encountered, even though I have not worked with her very long.

Beth

Janelle is absolutely wonderful. She has been a pillar while navigating a difficult time, and always helps me get to the heart of the matter. She has a gentle way of helping me understand the emotional center of whatever I’m struggling with. I’m so grateful for her care and expertise.

Ali H.

Janelle is incredible. I’m so happy w her. I thought I would feel weird doing therapy over the phone. Janelle made me feel so comfortable, it works out well. She’s also great in helping you with looking at things from a different perspective. I’m so happy I found her.

Lisa L. Designation

Women’s Integrative Counseling has been a lifesaver for me. It’s helped me cope with the loss of a friend, as well as the damage they caused in my life. Lauren Rodgers has been such a huge help to me, helping me realize things about myself I never knew and giving me the tools I need to get better mentally. I love this place as well because everyone that works there is in fact a woman. I feel they understand me more because of that, because we as women share very similar experiences in our lives. I highly recommend if you’re looking for someone to help you through whatever crisis you have going on.

Cassandra A.

I would definitely recommend her if you are going through any of the same! I’ve been working with Janelle Fleck for about a year now and definitely recommend her! She has helped me greatly with understanding and processing my feelings and helped me reframe how I think about situations/believe things are to what is real and true which has helped me to focus on being my true, authentic self. Her direct approach is extremely helpful for me and allowed me to discover things about myself I didn’t recognize before. She has helped me greatly with my general anxiety, social anxiety, people pleasing tendencies, feelings of not being liked by others, struggles with work, and relationship issues/breakups. I would definitely recommend her if you are going through any of the same!
