What People Are Saying About Lauren

I started experiencing heightened anxiety again a while back, but have historically had a hard time finding a provider I felt was a good match for me so I was very hesitant to “try” therapy again and kept delaying getting started back up. Read More…

After doing yet another round of internet searching for “therapists near me,” I came across Women’s Counseling NC. I reviewed their website and liked what I saw, from the web layout, to the pictures and descriptions of their team, and most importantly that you could do a brief and free consultation; so, I submitted a request to be contacted. I was contacted the same day, rather quickly I will add, and the staff member I spoke with set up a call for me to virtually meet with Lauren. Both the intake call and the initial consultation just “felt right” so I was eager to schedule after those brief calls! I will admit I was skeptical of online therapy, but not opposed to testing this format, but now I am grateful we meet online- I personally feel there is less pressure this way and doing so is so much easier in terms of scheduling consistently.

A few months later, I can say that everyone I speak to at this office is very professional, diligent, and superbly kind, the portal is easy to navigate, and I like that I can pay my bill online or have my card charged automatically within a few days of my visit if I forget to login and do so.

As for working with Lauren, she is very thought provoking and exceptionally caring. I explained in my consultation, and then in my intake, that I had not felt anyone I previously worked with was truly a good match for me, not that I did not benefit from the experience but just overall there was not the desire to continue seeing them as I felt we were not completely aligned. I wanted someone who not only listened but asked those deeper questions, and vice versa. Lauren 100% hears what I have to say, and she continues to check in and assess if I feel confident continuing our therapy relationship which signals she knows emotional wellbeing is priority but time and money are also important! She listens intently but also asks great questions, ones that are not only valid and relevant to the current discussion, but ones that show she takes the time to review our former sessions and is prepared to delve into unresolved or ongoing issues. Her feedback always comes with a “please let me know if I am off track here” but is always on point. I feel that she not only takes the time to check in with me on how my week has gone, but we are building momentum each week in a way that is refreshing. Overall, I feel that we are a great match in terms of a therapist-client relationship and I look forward to my sessions each week. She gives ample understanding and space for me to vent, ponder, and reflect while keeping me focused and moving forward. A lot of the time, I feel my words get stuck as I have mostly always had trouble expressing, or even understanding, my emotional thoughts, but she finds a way to help me break through my mental wall and reach some sense of comprehension by the end of each session- or, I leave the appointment with a direction of what I need to think more on or look into. I am grateful to have gotten started back into therapy and am excited to see where our sessions take me!
