Reparenting is the process of healing your inner child and becoming your own loving, nurturing parent. To do this, you have to get to know your own “inner family” and how they need the adult “you” to show up for them today, because of painful and wounding experiences earlier in life.

The reparenting process can be challenging, but if you commit to it, you will discover a sense of freedom and unburdening from past hurts. Your “inner family” will no longer be at odds, or keeping you stuck in your current mindset.

While there are many benefits to healing your inner child and becoming your own loving parent, we want to highlight some of the main ways reparenting can help you rediscover your true self and live a more joy filled life.

  1. Discover Your True Self– Reparenting helps you connect with the most authentic version of you, which is often connected to the child-like version of you. By discovering your true self, you can live an authentic life.
  2. Build Authentic Connections– Reparenting enables you to foster healthier connections within your current relationships, while also helping you to enter new relationships as your authentic self, cultivating more meaningful connections with others.
  3. Learn Your Needs– Through reparenting, you can learn how to give yourself the safety, trust, care, guidance, and unconditional love you needed as a child.
  4. Embrace Your Worth– Reparenting teaches you that you don’t need to prove your worth to anyone. You are good enough just as you are, and the strength and confidence you need is already within you.
  5. Honor Your Emotions– Reparenting empowers you to learn how to recognize your feelings, allow them to come as they are, and feel your emotions deeply. In turn, this teaches you how to honor your emotions and your needs and give them the attention they deserve.
  6. Free Yourself from Codependent Behaviors– We often fall into codependent relationships because we are seeking validation from others and not being our most authentic selves. Reparenting can help you develop healthier, more independent relationships.
  7. Reframe Past Beliefs– Reparenting allows you to be free of limiting beliefs and helps you reframe old belief systems by attaching new meaning to past experiences.
  8. Release What is Out of Your Control– Reparenting frees you from the desire to control everything around you. By healing your inner child, you allow yourself to maintain a sense of peace and stability.
  9. Set and Maintain Healthy Boundaries– Reparenting teaches you how to set and maintain healthy boundaries by allowing you to trust and honor your true adult self. Having healthy boundaries is one of the most important parts of living an authentic life.
  10. Live a Joyful Life– this is pretty self explanatory, live the life you want!

Ultimately, reparenting allows you to live a more fulfilling, joy filled life in which you can feel safe to grow, learn, and evolve into your most authentic self.
